Indigifunk: I mean, what else is there to say, really? Local Vancouver-based Indigenous funk/hip-hop band Curtis Clear Sky and the Constellationz captivate audiences with their funky rhythms, thundering percussion, blasting horns, soulful harmonies, and dicing & slicing DJ with empowering lyrics that gratify your soul.
Depending on your point of view and life circumstances, you will find their lyrics either very empowering or perhaps a little uncomfortable. Combining powerful lyrics with highly-engaging performances will make you “bump with the booming blasting blare”, and “you’ll be moving your feet like you don‘t care”.
Even though you will!
Now hear a classic: Atlanta Rhythm Section
Often described as a more radio-friendly version of Lynyrd Skynyrd or the Allman Brothers, the Atlanta Rhythm Section was one of many Southern rock bands to hit the upper reaches of the charts during the late '70s.
If you don't already have a few of their albums, you have certainly seen them in every record shop you have ever walked into. Not as commercially successful as bands like The Eagles, 38 Special, Edgar Winter Group (or Lynyrd Skynyrd or the Allman Brothers), ARS music is in the same wheelhouse, and definitely worth a revisit.
