Record Store Day Canada would like to take a moment to thank the thousands of Canadians who showed their support by lining up - and in some cases camping overnight - at their local independent record stores. Your passion and dedication are what make this community so special. Record Store Day involves many moving parts—distributors, manufacturers, timelines, partners, labels, and artists, to name a few. As many of you are aware, some titles did not arrive on time, and in certain cases, they did not arrive at all. We understand how disappointing it is to miss out on a release you were hoping for - trust us, we line up too and share that same anticipation. This past Saturday, April 18, presented particular challenges, as one of our partners was unable to deliver key category titles—not just late, but we have since learned that some of these titles will not be arriving at all. Independent stores, committed to serving their communities, were assured they would receive these highly anticipated releases. As in previous years, some stores offered to secure copies for customers based on those assurances. We recognize that leaving with a receipt instead of a record is not the experience anyone hoped for. However, these stores acted in good faith, with the intention of honoring the commitment to those who showed up early and supported them. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding toward the local stores affected by circumstances beyond their control. They remain at the heart of this event and your communities, and they continue to work hard every day to bring music lovers together.
