Now Hear Bonnie "Prince" Billy

Now Hear Bonnie

Bonnie "Prince" Billy.  You've seen his albums on the shelves of discerning record stores, but you probably have not heard a lot of his work on Top 40 radio.  So, what can you expect when you drop some of his wax on your turntable?

Will Oldham is an indie folk singer/songwriter who has drawn influences from Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Townes Van Zandt, Nick Cave, and others.  His music is somehow sparse and lush at the same time.  Like all good folk music, it can make you feel that there are other, deeper levels to what is being said, and it can evoke a melancholy for situations you are not even in!

One way to describe Bonnie "Prince" Billy's music is that it just feels like it should be a great soundtrack to any Spaghetti Western.

That sounds about right to us!

Now Hear A Classic: Queen

How to tackle a 'review' on a band as iconic as Queen?  How much information overload do you need?

Do you really care that Brian May and Roger Taylor played in the hard rock group Smile?  Do you need to know that Freddie Mercury was the lead singer for Wreckage?  Or is it enough just to know that they found each other, formed Queen, and changed rock music forever!

Yes, they were "Bohemian Rhapsody", and "We Will Rock You", and "Fat Bottomed Girls".   But somehow they were so much more.  There was something just magical in their chemistry and thrilling in their execution.

If you are new to Queen, we are a bit jealous of the fun you will have discovering them.  To get a sense of what all the fuss is about, just watch any video showing how they would have an absolutely massive, stadium-sized crowd in the palms of their hands, performing a number like "Find Me Somebody To Love".
